Our Backup Automation Tool 🌱

At Deepin.lat, our journey with this tool began in the halls of Yachay Tech University, where a group of passionate students formed the Free Software Club. Our mission was simple: empower others by spreading the use of free software, starting with Linux.

During one of our early club meetings, we organized a session to help students install Deepin Linux. Despite urging everyone to make a backup before switching operating systems, we quickly realized that most attendees hadn’t done it. In that moment, the complexities of manual backups became painfully clear. With limited time, manually gathering files folder by folder, compressing them, and then uploading everything to the cloud felt overwhelming—not to mention inefficient.

The need for an automated backup solution was obvious. Many of the attendees didn’t know where to begin, and even seasoned users found it tedious. It wasn’t just those new to Linux who faced this problem; even regular Deepin users were lacking a native tool to simplify their backups.

This experience showed us that the Deepin community—both newcomers and seasoned users alike—needed a better solution. That’s why we set out to create a simple, customizable tool to handle the backup process, making it easier for users to switch to Deepin and safeguard their data in the process.

Looking to the future, we plan to continue updating and improving this tool based on user feedback. The more we hear from the community, the better we can tailor it to meet the needs of everyone using Deepin Linux, ensuring that it remains as effective and user-friendly as possible.

This tool represents the collective effort of a growing community, committed to providing solutions that make transitioning to and using Deepin Linux easier for everyone. It’s more than just a script; it’s the result of collaboration, foresight, and a desire to improve the Linux experience for all users.
